I do, I do, I do- What will you do differently in 2018?
As we start looking forward to 2018, instead of the trends that proliferate at this time of year, I thought I’d look at those ways we can begin to think differently about B2B marketing over the coming year. These are my top tips for getting to grips with B2B marketing strategy:
Examine the commercial environment by SWOT and don’t make assumptions:
We as B2B marketers are now working differently with our customers, our organisations and our profession. |
Things have changed including the buyer journey, the sales funnel, how we engage with our customers and how our customers engage with us, the language we use, and the technology. It is high time to accept the changes without challenge like the divide between traditional and digital marketing, and the supposed shrinking of our attention spans.
Don’t be ‘marketing myopic’ –
In our B2B marketing world, we need to stop relying on the marketing activity that we’ve always done and start asking ourselves: are we really doing the right things? Like at Redefine my marketing team physically sits with operations team within the organisation Many marketing teams are in an area completely alienated from what’s often called internal services which hampers the smooth working. As B2B marketer, one should do whatever is necessary to relocate to where you’ll be able to have on-going, direct interactions with your salespeople.
Curiosity is the cat to be belled-The best marketers are infinitely curious, because they really want to understand what’s important and why. And the two crucial questions can be uncomfortable to ask: why are we doing this? Is this in sync with our customers need and wants?
Apply the domino effect - Start with a specific- by focusing on just one thing, whether that be a single output or a specific activity for one part of your business. If you can shake up even a single way of doing something, it has the potential to spread throughout the entire organisation. And you just might be surprised by who approaches you to say "I want one of those [marketing activities]".
Change is hard and resilient to people and especially in smaller and mid size organisations, there may be a lot of people that we need to bring around to what we want to do. As with all things marketing, I can say that retain your focus on the outcomes you want to achieve and don’t get bogged down in the outputs! |

In the month of Jan we did several events for our client Tata Tele Business Services. The event series talked about unleashing entrepreneurship & innovation through technology. We covered 9 cities PAN India. The Target audience were SMEs and size of the number were 70 companies in each location. The events were a success and we got good feedback from both client & the audience |
